The Kwara State University, Malete Ilorin, in affiliation with the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero-Ekiti has matriculated new students into her Environmental Health, Public Health and Health Information Management Degree programmes.
In her address, Provost of the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero-Ekiti, Dr.(Mrs.) Cecilia Adebayo, who expressed delight that the institution’s collaboration with Kwara State University had started yielding positive results, urged matriculating students to attend lectures regularly, and endeavour to carry out all assignments attached to their course work.
While congratulating the new intakes, Dr. Adebayo advised them to not breach their matriculation oath, as doing so would attract appropriate sanctions.
The Provost had earlier informed the KWASU team that the process of transmuting the College into a Polytechnic had almost reached its completion stage.
She called for improved synergy with Kwara State University, to enable the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero-Ekiti to run other degree programmes, noting that the College has the needed equipment, facilities, manpower and conducive learning environment to deliver.
On his part, the Vice-Chancellor, Kwara State University, Prof. Shaykh Jimoh represented by the Institution’s Director, Academic Planning – Prof. Emmanuel Ajani, applauded the COHESTI Governing Council and Management for upholding the tenets of integrity and professionalism.
He had earlier hinted that the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero performed excellently in the previous resource accreditation exercise conducted by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
While restating the aversion of KWASU for indecent dressing, examination malpractice, violent demonstration and other social vices, Prof. Ajani urged the matriculants to acquaint themselves with the KWASU code of conduct.
High point of the ceremony was the oath taking, administered on the matriculants by the KWASU Deputy Registrar – Malam Saka Imam.
The event which featured parade mounted by the Ekiti State College of Health Sciences and Technology Ijero-Ekiti parade guard, was attended by Principal Officers of the Ekiti State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero-Ekiti COHESTI, including; the Deputy Provost; Mrs. Iyabo Oladapo, the Registrar; Mrs. Caroline Ogunsakin, the Bursar; Dr. (Mrs.) Funmilayo Alonge, the Librarian; Mr. Folorunsho Olayinka, the KWASU Director of Distant Learning Programmes – Dr. Reuben Akano, the Director, College Affiliate and Part-time Studies, Dr. (Mrs.) Oshatunberu-Okunuga Modupe, the Coordinator – Mr. Abiola Ogunlana, as well as other Staff, Students and Well wishers.
